Week of March 27

This week was very productive for my production company, Baesic Productions.  The members in this company are Carlos, Leslie, Gisela, Julia, Ramon, and I.  We are making a mockumentary on how young children are preparing for college.  This week we were able to complete our screenplay and our storyboards, meaning we are now ready to film our movie.  We started to figure out who is going to come out in our film and have found the locations we are going to use.  We have agreed on using Bell Library and Veteran's Park as well.  I have started to memorize my lines for the film and have figured out how I am going to dress, as well.

What Music Means to Me

Music to me is magical.  I can't go a day without listening to at least a few songs.  I love listening to music and even singing along with the artist.  I listen to many different genres but my favorite by far is rock.  Now when I say rock I mean practically every kind of rock, ranging from classic rock to hard rock to indie to alternative.  I'm not a big fan of today's rock much as there aren't any truly "just rock" bands out there.  I am a fan of hundreds of bands from the 60s, the 70s, the 80s, the 90s, and the 00s as well.  My favorite band has always been Linkin Park. I started listening to them since the end of elementary and I've been a fan since.  They are probably the only modern band that I still listen to regularly.  They have so many messages in their songs that I feel make them all more powerful.  Most of their songs from their 3rd album on speak about war and many effects of war.  These messages I find amazing and they almost always get me thinking about the world.  I am also a huge fan of Avenged Sevenfold.  I started listening to them in middle school as my friends were all big fans.  Their music I can listen to in any situation which is why I feel their music is great.  Their songs go from very hard rock to different genres, as a couple of songs sound a little western as well.  Another huge band I got into during middle school was Nirvana.  Their grunge genre I found awesome and I am a huge fan to this day.  Bands that always get me into a good mood are The Beatles and Queen.  Both bands are legendary and it's easy to see why.  I love both bands and they are great mood boosters no matter how I am feeling.

Struggles of High School Students

What I see as the main problem for some students, including myself, is that our parents don't truly understand how school and education is very important.  Some parents, including mine, want us to start working at a young age which will affect us in school.  My mother wanted me to go to work at the age of fifteen and I felt it would turn my focus from school to work and give me a different mindset.  I honestly feel parents want their children to go to work rather than to get a good education and be very successful in their lives.  There are some cases in which it is necessary for a student to work as it is a hard time economically for some families; however, when it isn't necessary, the student should decide if they will be able to work while going to school.  My mother always compares me with my cousin that is in currently attending ASU, but she doesn't understand that college and high school are two totally different animals.  My parents don't understand that this year is probably the most important for me as this is the main year in which grades are looked at by universities.  I know if I was to go to work I would probably fall behind in school, which I can't afford to do, at least not this year.  Students need to be focused on their schoolwork, otherwise they'll end up having okay jobs when they could be getting very good jobs instead.

The Most Interesting Person in My Life

This is a tough answer to give, as I know quite a few people who are very interesting.  I think the most interesting one of them is one of my uncles.  He has had one heck of a life, but he's had some not so positive experiences as well.  He has always been a troublemaker throughout his youth and that is what I think makes him so interesting.  He has done so many not so good things in his life, which make his stories almost unbelievable.  One story I will never forget is one in which he kicked his Catholic school principal in his privates, as his principal was giving him a handful over something my uncle had done.  Immediately after kicking his principal, he ran off out of school to his grandmother's house, scared of the consequences that were coming.  He knew he would get in huge trouble and sure enough his father picked him up in the evening and gave him a "whoopin."  He was also, obviously, kicked out of the school.  I will never forget that story as I found it hilarious and very interesting.  I have never met another person that has done that to an adult and much less their principal.  He's also talked to me about how he would spend time with his friends and how he would always run into trouble with the police while with his friends.  While these stories may not be one to try myself, they sure are fun to listen to.
